Kick-off of Djerba Chess Festival 2024!

The much-awaited Djerba Chess Festival 2024 kicks off today! Starting from 4:10 PM (CET), enthusiasts can follow the thrilling matches of the Masters tournament live on Europe Echecs.

The 4th edition of the Djerba Chess Festival is scheduled to take place from February 18th to February 25th, 2024. This eagerly anticipated event will showcase a variety of tournaments, with the prestigious "Masters" event taking center stage.

Notable participants include esteemed players such as Hans Niemann, Aryan Tari, Jules Moussard, Vasyl Ivanchuk, Daniel Dardha, Marc'Andria Maurizzi, Bilel Bellahcene, and the exceptionally talented Indian chess prodigy Divya Deshmukh.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Djerba, the festival offers a rich assortment of competitions, including a Blitz championship, an Amateur Open, Mastersclasses, a Chess-Kids tournament, as well as an array of outdoor activities.

The Masters tournament, the highlight of the festival, will consist of seven rounds played at a time control of 90 minutes for the entire game, with an additional 30-second increment per move. Organized by Mr. Chokri Saidi and overseen by tournament director Chaher Miladi, the competition will be officiated by chief arbiter Bechir Messaoudi.

With an impressive average Elo rating of 2591, the tournament promises intense competition and thrilling encounters throughout its duration.
